Vermont approved the medical use of marijuana in 2004 with Senate Bill 76.  Once this law went into effect, it removed state level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of those with a written recommendation from their doctors.

Medical Marijuana Possession

Vermont residents who qualify for medical marijuana may possess no more than 2 ounces of useable marijuana, 2 mature plants and 7 immature plants.
